Sarah is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who offers counseling services to individuals of all ages, couples, and families. She was with Piedmont Psychotherapy from 2009 till early 2013, and now has her own practice.
Sarah believes that all people have the strength and ability to change what is not working in their lives. Her approach to treatment is rooted in nonjudgmental empathy, genuineness, and positive regard for her clients. By providing an integrative model of mindfulness and deep relaxation techniques with elements of person-centered and cognitive behavioral approaches, Sarah’s mission is to guide her clients through the creative process of self-exploration, setting and achieving personal goals, and improved overall well-being.
Sarah brings years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. She is particularly interested in supporting families around parenting and birth. She the innovator of the WellMama Project — a synergy of holistic therapeutic group process, psycho-education and yoga practice, with the aim nurturing new mothers. She also manages yoga-therapy support groups for middle and high school girls.
In addition to her Master’s Degree in Counseling, she holds a Master’s Degree in creative writing with an emphasis in theater arts. Sarah is a Certified Hypnotherapist and trained Yoga Therapist. Visit her studio and office space at 400 29th Street in Oakland. It’s absolutely beautiful.
