Vanessa Hernandez is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who enjoys working with children, teens, individuals, and families.
Vanessa assists her clients set their own goals and works together with them to achieve these goals. Her practice is client centered, based upon respect, empathy, active participation and listening. Vanessa supports her clients as they discover new truths about themselves. She helps her clients problem solve and works towards finding solutions with her clients. It is Vanessa’s belief that building a strong relationship with a client, along with hard work and dedication, creates eventual transformation and mutual growth for both the client and Vanessa as a therapist. This dynamic continues to inspire her work.
Throughout her career, Vanessa has worked in elementary and middle schools in both San Francisco and the South Bay. She has counseled individuals through Battered Women’s Alternatives in Concord and USF Counseling Center in San Francisco. Vanessa has been married for almost 25 years and has raised two children. Her work and personal experiences give her insight to empathize with adults and young people to help them face the unique bumps and transitional phases in a complicated world. She believes creating a safe and caring container in therapy will enable her clients to open and share with her.
Vanessa grew up in the Bay Area and has a BS in Industrial Psychology and a Masters in Counseling from St. College Mary’s College of California.
